Tostones (Fried Plantains)

Ingredients 3 plantains
7 garlic cloves
1 tablespoon salt
1 cup water
2 cups vegetable oil
Remove the skin of the plantains and cut into 1 1/2 inch pieces. Heat the vegetable oil in frying pan and cook plantains over low heat. Grind the garlic cloves and mix with water and salt. When pieces of plantains are soft, mash them individually between sheets of waxed paper and soak them in the water with the garlic. Fry the round pieces in hot vegetable oil until they are golden brown. Yummy! Serves 4.
